We spend an extra minute with Belles Will Ring and find out what’s going on…
What’s going on in the world of Belles Will Ring?
We’re about to tour with our good friends Leader Cheetah. We’ve just come off the back of touring with Pulp, and on the cusp of releasing our next single from Crystal Theatre, ‘Bald Mountain’. Once the touring’s done, we’ll write another record.
What motivates you to make music?
The world around us. Communicating with people. Creating beautiful sounds.
What have been the high and low points of your musical experiences so far?
Making Crystal Theatre has been the highpoint. None of us have ever felt as happy or rewarded or challenged by a music project before. The low point? Writing a musical in 2003.
What music are you listening to at the moment?
Willis Alan Ramsey, My Morning Jacket, Bonnie Prince Billy & The Cairo Gang, and some Eastern European folk music.
If you were stranded on a desert island, which member of the band would get eaten first?
Here’s an opportunity to bitch about something, whether music related or not. What really pisses you off?
The words “Unknown Number”.
You’re putting together your perfect gig featuring Australian artists? Who would you get to play and where? Feel free to include acts/DJs/bands/venues that no longer exist.
In a magical giant wooden mountain luxury resort surrounded by pine trees, we’d have all of our extended network of friends and bands playing together in a week-long festival, headlined by The Go-Betweens, The Church, Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and Opera Australia.
