AXXONN Part I: “more light, more smoke and maybe even perhaps some go-go dancers”

Self-described pop/synth/doom/electronic act AXXONN, aka Tom Hall, has been on our radar for a while now. His very excellent Let’s Get It Straight is some of the finest electronic music to have come out of this country. In the first of this two-part interview, Carl Properjohn talks to the Brisbane artist about hitting LA, his live show, and how to keep your old-school Mötley Crüe t-shirts from falling apart.

Well I think the best way to start this off is by letting people know what you’ve been doing in the last six to twelve months…
I’m firmly in studio mode right now, I haven’t had a chance to actually sit down and concentrate for almost six months now –  pretty much since Let’s Get It Straight came out I’ve been touring. I’m going to have a break until June and then will probably tour for the last half of 2011 until album number two comes out. The focus is now firmly on the UK/EU where the album came out in February, after almost exhausting the Oz circuit with two extensive tours and a lot of local Brisbane shows. But I’m really loving getting into the guts of writing album number two, it’s continuing along similar lines and will no doubt be quite eclectic just like Let’s Get It Straight.
