We're still recovering from the face-melting awesomeness of High On Fire's recent Australia/New Zealand tour, but for anyone suffering withdrawals, here's an in depth, two-part interview with frontman Matt Pike, where he chats to The Void AU's Christina Rowatt about High On Fire, Sleep, and, well... pretty much everything.
Anger Management: Mike and the Melvins - Three Men and a Baby
After the 'end of the world/Y2K' nonsense in the year 2000, The Melvins began a long, still ongoing, mission to expand up and diversify their 'brand'. Like a seed germinating, mutating and spreading all over the planet. This process, arguably, began with covers album 'The Crybaby': said album featured guest vocalists such as Mike Patton, David Yow and Bliss Blood. 2004 saw a collaboration album with dark ambient artist Lustmord plus and album with legendary Dead Kennedys frontman Jello Biafra, 2012's 'Freak Puke' was released and a slimmed down version of the band (Melvins Lite) and 2013's 'Tres Cabrones' + subsequent tour was officially released under the banner of 'Melvins 1983'.
Premiere: Mt. Mountain - "Freida"
We've been big fans of Mt. Mountain for a long time now, and the Perth outfit are finally rewarding our prayers with a debut full-length release. After kicking around since 2012, and releasing a demo, EP and 7", Mt. Mountain have at long last given us the an LP.
Cosmos Terros will be released in April, and we've got the first taste of it for you in the form of a stream of "Freida".
Anger Management: Black Tusk
After the tragic passing away of bassist/vocalist Jonathan Athon in late 2014 Black Tusk have regrouped and rebounded in an excellent way with the pounding slab of 'Pillars Of Ash'.
Recruiting ex Kylesa bassist Corey Barhorst (who played and toured during that bands Spiral Shadow release) has really lit a fire under the band, his gnarly bass tones and shouty vocals fitting right in. The tag 'Swamp Metal' really is understating the sounds that are in play here: a mix of hardcore, metal, punk and some light psyche. Tracks like the opening High On Fire-esque 'Gods On Vacation' and 'Still Not Well' are catchy and heavy. An excellent production by Joel Grind is the cherry on top here.
Two Minutes With Big Bread
Ahead of their gig supporting High On Fire at Max Watt's Melbourne on Friday, February 19, we spent some quality time with Theo Umbrividies from Big Bread.

What’s going on in the world of Big Bread
I'm just always watching replays of best scenes in world series cricket where Dennis Lilly rubs the ball on the groin. He was always really cool at that. I mostly spend time watching that and also a lot of time under the waters.
